John Luna, MFA
Nationwide Children's Hospital
John Luna, MFA, is an Interactive Media Designer and Developer and
Manager of the Design & Technology team at Nationwide Children's Hospital
(NCH) in Columbus, Ohio. He holds an MFA from Ohio State University (OSU),
where his research generated new knowledge through design, practice as
research, and teaching at the interdisciplinary nexus of interactive
technology, game design, and expressive human movement (aka Dance). During his
time at OSU, John spent countless hours working, collaborating and studying
with the incredible faculty, staff and students at OSU’s prestigious Advanced
Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD).
Over the last seven years, John has been a lead designer and
developer on a broad range of interactive media applications that have helped
researchers and clinicians innovate their practices. The application of the
work has been: interventions, communication tools, exposure therapies, patient
and provider education, and research tools ("My favorite is definitely
this funny little bean character that helps kids describe their bowel
movements"). John has also co-authored a number of publications in the
digital health space (JMIR, JAMIA, ACM SIGGRAPH, etc.).
