Nanthia Suthana, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, and Bioengineering. She completed her B.S. and Ph.D. in Neuroscience and postdoctoral training at UCLA before joining faculty. She uses virtual (and augmented) reality combined with wearable technologies in patients with brain implants to understand cognitive function and develop novel therapies for neurologic and psychiatric disorders. She has been awarded a NIH Brain Initiative grant to study deep brain mechanisms of real world spatial navigation and a McKnight Technological Innovations in Neuroscience Award. She is the Ruth and Raymond Stotter Chair in Neurosurgery and serves as the Associate Director of the Neuromodulation Division at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience as well as the Associate Director of Neuroscience outreach for the Brain Research Institute at UCLA.
