Karma McKelvey, PhD, MPH

Karma McKelvey, PhD, MPH, is an associate professor and director of health services research in the Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Surgery Department. Her work focuses on healthcare delivery, intervention, and best practices, including perioperative opioid usage, patient-reported outcomes, and surgeon satisfaction – ultimately to improve clinical practice, increase patient satisfaction, and lower costs. Dr. McKelvey completed two fellowships in addictions science and tobacco control research, and she has expertise in study design and health-related quality of life research. Dr. McKelvey has published in JAMA Network Online, among other high-quality peer-reviewed journals. Her nationally recognized work has received funding from National Institutes of Health and Stanford Institute of Maternal and Child Health.
